About
We will enjoy a curator tour of two newly opened exhibitions at Lyndsey Ingram Gallery .
Incitatus - a solo show of new abstract paintings by Tanya Ling. The exhibition responds to the artist’s lifelong love of horses as well as the history of Lyndsey Ingram’s new gallery space; a converted 19th-century stable retaining many original features. The word Incitatus has multiple meanings – in a religious context, it means to love one another deeply (according to the apostle Peter), yet it also refers to the Latin word for a horse at full gallop. Every painting within the show is named after a racehorse chosen by Ling.
Nocturnes - a group show which brings together artists who examine the concept, tone and subject matter of nighttime. The show encompasses painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture. Artists have used the concept of night scenes to convey a sense of strangeness, detachment, loneliness and emotional trauma, yet there are also many scenes of peace, meditation and undisturbed beauty among the works included. Artists include David Hockney, Henri Matisse, Lucien Freud, Miles Aldridge and Suzy Murphy.
